Cultural center “Kulturhaus Würth”and library “Bibliothek Frau Holle” inaugurated in Künzelsau

Summary

Künzelsau. Künzelsau continues to expand its cultural activities: On 2 May 2017, the culture house “Kulturhaus Würth,” along with its integrated library “Bibliothek Frau Holle,” opened its doors in the heart of Künzelsau. The institution is located in the former Hirschwirtsgasthaus inn, in Schnurgasse 8, and will serve as a social gathering point and cultural center.

The library on the first floor, with 6,000 books from the private collection of Carmen Würth, invites visitors to linger and browse through a book or two. The array of books includes sundry genres and topics: from fiction to specialist literature, from references to rare copies. The library is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as during cultural events.

The multi-functional event hall on the ground floor, with its 100 square meters, offers enough space for roughly 80 persons. It is possible to hold several different events there at once, supported by cutting-edge technology. Another advantage of the building is that it was constructed at ground level and designed to be handicap accessible.

The cultural center and library not only enrich the town’s cultural activities, but also stand out due to the excellent location. The town museum and Hirschwirtscheuer gallery are located right next to it. Breaks with high-quality cuisine are guaranteed by the adjacent Hotel-Restaurant Anne-Sophie. Together, these places form an ensemble of history, culture and leisure. Partnerships with associations and institutions in Künzelsau and the near vicinity are already planned. Apart from this, the cultural center would be delighted to receive further suggestions from the citizens regarding the promotion of culture and is already planning theater classes for laypersons, concerts and readings of a varied nature.

Special emphasis will be placed on activities for children and adolescents. Regular story times, for example, are planned at the library Frau Holle, where volunteers will read fairy tales and tell stories to children. The center is therefore looking for volunteers for the readings.

The initiator, Carmen Würth, hopes to create an oasis, an island where people can rest and recharge their batteries. The library is intended as a place where young and old feel at home and can let their imaginations run free, learning and trying out new things while losing track of time as they read. “I am convinced that we can all learn a lot from books and stories, even from fairy tales,” said Carmen Würth at the inauguration. Her husband, Professor Dr. h.c. mult. Reinhold Würth, sees the institution as another contribution to the cultural richness of the town of Künzelsau.

The learning partners from Freie Schule Anne-Sophie and numerous musicians rounded out the opening ceremony in a fabulous manner.

A diverse program is planned for the first week after the opening, culminating in a large opening party in and around the cultural center and library on 6 May 2017. Further information on the schedule of events can be found at www.kulturhaus-wuerth.de.
