Two caring minds that think alike: Carmen Würth meets Philipp Lahm

Summary

Künzelsau. As part of his charity activities, Philipp Lahm visited the Würth Foundation on 14 and 15 January. The former professional football player spoke about his own career and his aims driving his commitment in sports and education.

The promotion of education is what links the Philipp Lahm Foundation and the Würth Foundation. Both foundations first got in touch over a joint project in Philippi, South Africa, to promote the iThemba Labantu community center and the opening of the Philipp Lahm Sports Ground in February 2019. On the initiative of Carmen Würth, the project and the non-profit organization Themba Labantu – Hoffnung für die Menschen e.V. (Hope for the people) based in Munich, Germany, are supported by the Würth Foundation.

It was Carmen Würth’s wish that Philipp Lahm presents his social responsibility and the charitable activities he pursues at her special place, Hotel Restaurant Anne-Sophie. Philipp Lahm replied her question what message he had for the people with: “Joy has been and will always be most important to me. I always enjoy putting a smile on other people’s faces.” Carmen Würth added: “The joy in what you do is also enshrined in the philosophy of our hotel. It matters that we are open and respectful towards each other, promote mutual understanding and also take down social barriers.

On the second day of his visit, the former World Champion visited Freie Schule Anne-Sophie in Künzelsau to contribute to the project “Achtung Mensch: Menschenbilder” (Note people: views on people) After a lively Q&A session and intensive discussions on ‘World Ethos and sports’, the learning partners of Freie Schule Anne-Sophie enjoyed the highlight of the day: goal shooting at the school’s auditorium.
