Würth Group supports UNICEF program with EUR 400,000
Once again, the Würth Group is supporting the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, as part of a global campaign week. With a donation of EUR 400,000, the Würth Group is funding an aid program in the Philippines that gives children and young people better access to education and improved opportunities for personal development.
“Children and young people in the Philippines are growing up in an insecure environment shaped by conflict and poverty. With this donation to UNICEF, we want to help open up better prospects for them—because education, protection, and strong community cohesion are key to empowering young people and enabling them to build a better future,” said Maria Würth, Executive Vice President of the Würth Group for Arts and Culture. She presented the donation on behalf of her mother, Bettina Würth, who is a member of the Board of UNICEF Germany and initiated this commitment.
This is the ninth consecutive year in which Würth is supporting UNICEF and donating part of the proceeds from RW WORKOUT Week.
Education as the key to peace and a better future
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in the southern Philippines, an entire generation is growing up amid conflict, natural disasters, and years of underfunding. For many children, this means poverty, insecurity, and limited protection.
The UNICEF program therefore focuses on improving education, creating safe learning spaces, and strengthening social skills. UNICEF provides further training for teachers, improves school development plans, and supplies learning materials. Adolescents and young adults are encouraged to develop and implement their own ideas and to actively promote peaceful and respectful coexistence. In addition, the program involves parents, youth groups, and local decision-makers in order to effectively strengthen social cohesion in the communities.
Some 30,000 children, adolescents, and young adults will benefit from the donation. A further approximately 54,700 people in selected communities will benefit indirectly from stronger schools, improved child protection systems, and peacebuilding and dialogue initiatives.
“We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks for the outstanding support provided by the Würth Group and its employees. The impressive long-standing commitment as part of the Würth Group’s campaign week is a testament to boundless solidarity with children who are in urgent need of help,” said Georg Graf Waldersee, Chairman of the Board of UNICEF Germany. “Thanks to this support, UNICEF can provide long-term support to children in the Philippines and create opportunities for them. These children want to learn—and they have every right to do so. Improved access to education gives them the chance to develop personally and shape their future.”
