Würth Foundation supports family accommodation at Familienherberge Lebensweg

At the initiative of Carmen Würth, Würth Foundation donates EUR 120,000 to the institution in Schützingen

Summary

For Carmen Würth, it is a matter of the heart to promote encounters of people with and without disabilities on an equal footing. On behalf of Würth Foundation, she and her husband, Reinhold Würth, support the project of Familienherberge Lebensweg in Schützingen with a donation of EUR 120,000, spread over three years, to support additional families.

During their stay at Familienherberge Lebensweg, children and young people are promoted in their autonomy, personality and mobility, giving them a bit more quality of life. Life in this home is characterized by appreciating and caring for each other in an atmosphere full of warmth and kindness.

Familienherberge Lebensweg was initiated by Karin Eckstein, a pediatric nurse, and officially opened in 2018. The concept, which is unique in southern Germany and directly tailored to the needs of families with seriously ill and disabled children, offers families a time-out along with twenty-four hours of care. Karin Eckstein is happy about the generous donation: “Every family should be welcome at Lebensherberge irrespective of the child’s clinical picture or the family’s financial situation. This is why we are particularly pleased that Würth Foundation supports this project that is so dear to our hearts following the initiative of Carmen Würth”. As a sign of appreciation for the donation, a paving stone with Carmen Würth's name inscribed on it was set into the ground in front of the entrance to Familienherberge.

The team of Familienherberge Lebensweg consists of healthcare support workers, nurses and pediatric nurses as well as social education workers who look after the entire family. Unburdened from the stress of everyday life, parents and siblings can take advantage of the house's modern facilities with rooms for playing and romping as well as meditating and recharging one’s batteries.
