Würth Group expands in North America

Summary

Künzelsau. The Würth Group completed the acquisition of Des Moines Bolt, a company based in Iowa (USA), at the beginning of October 2015. In the business year 2014, Des Moines Bolt generated sales of around USD 46 million with a total of 95 employees.

The company will continue operating as independent company of Würth Industry of North America (WINA) under the name of Würth Des Moines Bolt, Inc. WINA, a network of eight companies, is among the largest suppliers of assembly technology in the USA, generating sales of USD 325 million in 2013.

The acquisition adds more than 1,100 customers to WINA and expands the business network west of the Mississippi River. The acquisition of Des Moines Bolt makes it possible for Würth to better penetrate the agricultural and construction industry and strengthens its core competence in the field of fastening technology.

Des Moines Bolt was established in 1978. The company has locations in Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska and looks back on 35 years of experience. In addition to a big choice of fastening materials for industry businesses, the company offers a variety of services including EDI, bar coding, kitting and packaging, inventory management, and delivery services.

It currently consists of more than 400 companies in over 80 countries with more than 68,000 employees on its payroll. Around 30,000 employees are permanently employed sales representatives. In the core business, the Würth Line, the product range for trades and industry comprises over 100,000 products: from screws, screw accessories and anchors to tools, chemical-technical products and personal protective equipment.

The Allied Companies of the Würth Group, which either operate in business areas related to the core business or in diversified business areas, round off the range by offering products for DIY stores, material for electrical installations, electronic components such as circuit boards as well as financial services. They account for more than 40 percent of the Würth Group's sales volume.
