For 70 years, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (JMD) has promoted the development of youth through music. In the 2021 anniversary year, the Würth Prize of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland was awarded to Jörg Widmann on 7 September 2021. The jury considers him to be a “universal musician who lends his playful virtuosity to transport an authentic and meaningful musical message”. Widmann conveyed “energy, joy and love of music” to the audience and young musicians in particular, with his very own musical vocabulary touching the listeners’ hearts and souls.
