Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth celebrates his 90th birthday
State Premier Winfried Kretschmann honors Würth’s life’s work
On 16 July 1945, Adolf Würth opened the doors to his wholesaling business for screws and bolts, marking the beginning of Würth’s success story: Through entrepreneurial passion, courage, curiosity, and his keen sense for people, Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group, transformed the small business into the global market leader in the development, production, and sale of assembly and fastening materials it is today.
On 29 April 2025, the family business celebrated Prof. Würth’s 90th birthday and the 80th anniversary of the Würth Group. Family and companions, guests from the worlds of politics, business and the arts, customers and suppliers as well as the company management paid tribute to Prof. Würth’s life’s work during a ceremony at Carmen Würth Forum in the German town of Künzelsau.
Benjamin Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group, Robert Friedmann, Chairman of the Central Management Board of the Würth Group, and Norbert Heckmann, Member of the Central Management Board of the Würth Group and Chairman of the Management of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, welcomed the approximately 500 guests.
In a video greeting, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, congratulated Prof. Würth on the two anniversaries: “Today you are celebrating two anniversaries that both shine far beyond Künzelsau, the Hohenlohe as well as the Heilbronn-Franken region. You, dear Prof. Würth, and your company have not only shaped your home region, you have also contributed to the success story of the Federal Republic of Germany.” Federal President Steinmeier paid particular tribute to Prof. Würth’s commitment to democracy, freedom, and diversity. He continued: “To this day, you continue to inspire young and old with your entrepreneurial courage and your social commitment. Our country owes you a lot.”
Baden-Württemberg's State Premier Winfried Kretschmann delivered the gala address at Carmen Würth Forum: “Renowned for his ability to identify opportunities and turn them into reality, Reinhold Würth is a Baden-Württemberg entrepreneur par excellence. His life’s work shows that change is possible and that one can achieve great things even from difficult starting positions. Driven by his Hohenlohe energy and his global vision, he has made his company a symbol of innovative strength ‘made in Baden-Württemberg.’ He is an entrepreneur guided by strong principles, for whom commercial success and social responsibility are inextricably linked. It is in challenging times like these in particular that we need individuals like him more than ever to ensure our country continues to play a leading role in the future.”
“90 years are not a typical lifetime. That is why I am all the more grateful that I can look back on a life in which I managed to achieve a few things,” Prof. Würth said in his speech. Without his dear wife Carmen, this lifetime achievement would not have been possible: “We are now in the 69th year of our marriage. My dear Carmen, you helped me through many difficult hours. You took outstanding care of the family for me, allowing me to devote most of my time to the company. I would like to tell you, as I do every day: Carmen, I love you.”
To celebrate Prof. Würth’s 90th birthday, the Würth family and the entire Würth Group are planting an arboretum at Carmen Würth Forum. Over the years, this arboretum will expand across the entire company grounds in Künzelsau. The trees planted symbolize the values Prof. Würth and his company represent: stability and strength, diversity and adaptability as well as growth and vision.
